The Dragon Boat FestivalThe fifth day of the fifth lunar month is the Dragon Boat Festival,one of the most important festivals in China.It is celebrated with special reference to the death of Qu Yuan,an officeal of Chu,who drowned himself in the river Milo on this day thousands of years ago.The Dragon Boat Festival,as its name indicates,is a day on which a dragon-boat race takes place.This is done to commemorate the death of Qu Yuan.This custom is still being observed as it used to be.Many pe-ople however,have already regarded it merely as a time for amuse-ment,without attaching the least historical significance to the day.
