12月英語六級詞匯復習資料
第一部分：
1. chronic a. 慢性的;嚴重的
chronic可指疾病長期的，慢性的或連續復發的，如：
Arthritis is a chronic disease.
關節炎是一種慢性病。
另外，chronic還可指某種問題長期存在的，習慣性的，如：
Unemployment has been a chronic problem in this country.
在這個國家，失業問題長期存在。
2. circulation n. 循環;發行(量)
circulation的動詞形式是circulate。
Reader has a large circulation in China.
《讀者》在中國發行量很大。
3. climax n. 高潮;頂點，最高點 v. (使)達到頂點(或高潮)
Here comes the climax of the play.
整場戲的高潮來了。
4. cling to v. 緊緊抓住，依戀;堅持，墨守
英語中表示堅持的詞還有很多，如insist，persist，adhere等，它們的區別如下：
cling 與to連用，指對信仰、意見、習慣等的堅持。
adhere 也與to連用，指堅持意見、計劃或承諾等，含有堅持不懈的意思。
insist 通常用于對意見、主張等的堅持。
persist 用于褒義時指堅持繼續做某事，但更常用于貶義，指不聽勸告，頑固堅持。
persevere 含褒義，強調堅持不懈的努力。
cling的過去式和過去分詞是clung，cling to sth.=become attached to sth.
Don’t cling to your old ideas, it’s 21 century now!
別老是守著你的陳舊思想，現在都21世紀了。
5. coincidence n. 巧合;一致
by coincidence 碰巧，湊巧
What a coincidence!
真巧啊!
第二部分：
1. blur v. 變模糊;弄臟
blur with sth. 被……弄模糊
My vision blurred with fog.
我的視野被大霧弄得模糊不清。
2. bribe v. & n. 行賄;收買，賄賂
take /offer a bribe 受賄/行賄 give /offer /hand out bribes to sb. 向某人行賄
bribe sb. into silence 用賄賂封住某人的嘴 be bribed into secrecy 受了賄替某人保密
The manager of construction company offer bribes to the mayor with 3 million yuan.
那個建筑公司的總經理向市長行賄300萬元。
